Marun Gas Injection Plant Instrumentation and Control system complete revamp & modernization

The plant which is located in South IRAN and is owned by National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), comprises of 10 turbine-driven gas compressor units provided in series/ parallel arrangement with 5 low pressure (LP) compressors and five high pressure (HP) compressors operating in parallel. The Plant is compresses inlet natural gas to increase the pressure from 92 to 245 bars..  Based on the extensive knowledge and sound experience in instrumentation and control system revamping of gas compressor stations along with consistent track records of successfully completed projects, HITEC was awarded Marun Gas Injection Plant Control System Revamping Project and carried out all Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning activities to complete the project.


The project was completely executed by Hanif Instrument Technology & Control (HITEC) Company without any 3rd party assistance. The project execution included the following stages:


  • Site survey, data gathering and finalizing control systems architecture
  • Project engineering and detailed design including specifications, data sheets, drawings and calculation of turbo-compressor parameters
  • Procurement and supply of control system hardware, instruments, fuel valve, F&G detectors
  • Integration and test of control panel including DCS (11 sets), ESD (1 set), F&G (1 set)
  • Setup and configuration of Vibration Protection System (10 sets), Condition Monitoring System (1 set ), Engineering and Operating Workstations
  • Programming process control and safety systems and development of process monitoring software

The new control systems (DCS/ESD/F&G) were designed based on the Iranian Petroleum Standards (IPS) and relevant international standard and were integrated according to the latest technology in the process control and safety systems in Oil & Gas industry. The new architecture includes the following systems:


  • Distributed Control System (DCS)
  • Safety Systems – ESD , F&G
  • Process Monitoring System (HMI)
  • Process Instruments and Fire & Gas Detectors
  • Gas Turbine Fuel System
  • Vibration Protection & Online Condition Monitoring System
